## When is the Taj Mahal open?
The Taj Mahal is open from sunrise to sunset every day except Friday, when it closes for prayers. It is also open on select full-moon nights for a limited night viewing.

## The best time to visit
Sunrise is the best time to see the Taj Mahal. The marble glows soft pink and gold, the light is beautiful for photos, temperatures are cool and the crowds are thinnest. Late afternoon is a good second choice.

## Tickets and entry
Foreign visitors pay a higher entrance fee than domestic visitors, and a small extra charge lets you enter the main mausoleum. Tickets are timed, and security is strict — large bags, tripods and food are not allowed inside. On our tours, tickets and fast-track entry help are arranged for you.

## How to visit from Delhi
Agra is about 3–3.5 hours from Delhi by road, or roughly 100 minutes on the Gatimaan Express train. You can comfortably see the Taj and Agra Fort in a day. See our same-day Taj Mahal & Agra Fort tour and the faster Gatimaan Express Taj tour.

## Insider tips
- Go at sunrise and enter as the gates open.
- Avoid Fridays (closed) and public holidays (very busy).
- Wear slip-on shoes — you'll cover your shoes or remove them near the mausoleum.
- Pair the Taj with Agra Fort and a sunset view from Mehtab Bagh across the river.
