## The best time to visit Rajasthan
The best time to visit Rajasthan is October to March, when the desert days are warm and sunny and the nights are cool. This is peak season for Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, and the ideal window for our Rajasthan Heritage & Safaris tour.
## Season by season
- October–March (best): Pleasant, dry days; cool desert nights. Book palace hotels early for December–January.
- April–June: Very hot (often 40°C+), but excellent for tiger safaris in Ranthambore and much quieter at the sights.
- July–September: The monsoon brings some rain and greenery; humidity rises but crowds thin.
## Festivals to plan around
Rajasthan's calendar is full of colour — the Pushkar Camel Fair (November), the Jaipur Literature Festival (January), Holi (March) and the Desert Festival in Jaisalmer (February).
## What to pack
- Light, breathable cottons for the day and a warm layer for cool desert evenings (November–February).
- Comfortable walking shoes for forts and cobbled lanes.
- Sun hat, sunglasses and high-SPF sunscreen.
- Modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees for temples.
