We're a small team, deeply in love with India

For over fifteen years we've helped travellers see our country the way we know it — slowly, warmly, and away from the crowds.

Our story

Born from a simple frustration

India Tours by Local began in 2010, when our founder — a Delhi-born guide — grew tired of watching visitors rushed through his country on identical coach tours. He believed India deserved to be met on foot, over chai, at the pace of the person experiencing it.

Today we're a close team of travel designers, drivers and regional guides spread across the country. We don't resell packages. We build each journey by hand, then walk it with you — matching the right guide, the right season and the small, unhurried moments that turn a trip into a memory.

Frequently asked questions

Are your tours private or in groups?

Every journey we run is private — just you and the people you travel with, your own guide and vehicle. Nothing is shared with strangers unless you specifically ask to join a small group.

Can I customise an itinerary?

Completely. The journeys on this site are starting points. We adjust the pace, hotels, add-on cities and activities around your dates, budget and interests — from festivals to food to photography.

When is the best time to visit India?

Broadly, October to March is ideal across most of the country. The Himalayas are best from May to September. We'll always recommend the right window for the regions on your route.

How do payments and cancellations work?

A modest deposit confirms your trip, with the balance due before arrival. Cancellation terms are shared clearly in writing with every quote — no surprises.
